Dr. Toshiyuki Nagata, emeritus professor won the BSJ Fundamental Prize

Dr. Toshiyuki Nagata, emeritus professor at both The University of Tokyo and Hosei University, recently won the BSJ Fundamental Prize. The “BSJ Fundamental Prize” is awarded to a botanist who has contributed to The Botanical Society of Japan and to the development of plant sciences. Professor Nagata has established the highly synchronized tobacco BY-2 cell line and the regeneration of tobacco plant from single mesophyll protoplast that were highly evaluated by the Awards Committee.
